| At the Chinese National Healthy
Living Centre, we work hard to reduce the serious health inequalities
which exist amongst the UK Chinese community and to offer a
positive and holistic approach to healthy living. |
| We believe that building partnerships is the
key to success. We work closely with government departments,
with organisations large and small, whether statutory or voluntary,
with community groups and individuals to develop services to
meet the needs of the Chinese community in a multi-cultural
Britain. |
| Partnerships include: |
- We work at a strategic level with statutory organisations
such as the Department of Health, the Food Standards Agency
and the NHS Information Authority
- We run projects with organisations like Health Promotion
England, the Association of London Government and Primary
Care Trusts
- We work closely with voluntary organisations such as the
British Heart Foundation, Gamcare and the Hungerford Drug
Project
- We provide help to universities researching health issues
affecting Chinese communities
- We give advice to frontline groups working with the Chinese
community
- We work with individual GPs, pharmacists, counsellors,
health and social workers to help them provide a better
service to their Chinese clients
|
| At the Centre, we act as a source of information
for the media. We help newspaper, radio and television journalists
spread our message to Chinese communities and to the whole of
multi-cultural Britain and beyond. For example, TVB, the Chinese
satellite television channel, broadcast programmes to the UK
and Europe about cooking and eating Chinese food in a healthy
and nutritious way. |
