Past CNHLC Project
Chinese Health Website & Internet Drop-In
This project was aimed at providing a more convenient channel for Chinese people to access health-related information, better understand, and thus better access, health services in UK. It served as a pilot scheme for a potentially longer and more widespread programme.
The major beneficiaries were Chinese people who lack English language skills or those who live in dispersed areas. This programme helped them in gaining a better understanding and consequently resulting in greater utilisation of mainstream health care services.
People without access to a computer or who lack Internet surfing skills would also benefit from this programme. During visits to our Internet drop-in, they could learn basic computing skills through one-to-one teaching from our project coordinator.
The Internet Drop-In was officially opened on the 2nd September 2003. Clients are welcome to use this service between Tuesday and Friday, 10am to 4pm. No appointment neccessary.
The Health in Chinese website (www.healthinchinese.com) was officially launched in January 2005, providing health information in Chinese for the UK Chinese community.
