| Background | Programme |
| CNHLC is creating an archive recording the occupational engagement of Chinese settlers in London from the 1880s to the present day. The project will include an educational programme for school children in London and culminate in an exhibition for Londoners. |
| The focus of the archive will be the laundry and catering trades. |
| This project is in partnership with London Metropolitan Archives (LMA) and London Chinese Community Network (LCCN). |
| We need your support in order to make this project happen. |
| If you have and would like to contribute items, documents or artefacts to the archive, please contact us. |
Items can come from personal, family, business and community organisations, and they can include:
- Documents - files, letters, early passports, visas and pre-migration birth/marriage/death certificates, plans of buildings, leases/title deeds, business registration, constitutions and memoranda and articles of association, reports, purchase receipts, cuttings, printed material including invitations, newsletters, posters, programmes and leaflets of events
- Volumes/Books - minutes, albums, financial and business accounts and registers, diaries, histories
- Audio-visual - tapes, photographs, oral histories
- Electronic documents - minutes, reports, newsletters, websites
- Artefacts - clothing, badges
|
| All items submitted will be preserved in LMA's special facilities. |
| The archive will enable the wider community, including school children and researchers, to learn about Chinese heritage in London. |
