We aim to promote healthy living and to facilitate access to health services for the Chinese community in the UK. The Centre takes an holistic approach tackling both the physical and psychological aspects of health.

Hepatitis B Clinic

CNHLC runs a Hepatitis B Clinic for Chinese people in partnership with 56 Dean Street every Tuesday.
A screening and vaccination service for Chinese people delivered in partnership with 56 Dean Street every Tuesday afternoon.

Counselling

CNHLC's Counselling sessions are available every Fri at the Soho Centre for Health and Care between 1pm and 5pm.
Free counselling in Mandarin and Cantonese for people with emotional or mental health problems. Every Friday.

Sunday Chinese Surgery

Our bilingual doctors provide advice on health problems to people who have difficulties in communicating with their own doctors. The Sunday Surgery also offers a screening programme such as blood pressure measurements and urine testing. We cannot provide prescriptions but we will put you in touch with the right health professional.

Traditional Chinese Medicine

The CNHLC Sunday Surgery offers traditional Chinese herbal medicine in its drop-in clinic in the London Centre in Soho, as well as acupuncture treatments. This service is run jointly by our centre and the Asante Academy of Chinese Medicine at the Middlesex University.
We offer traditional Chinese herbal medicine, acupuncture and tuina massage every Sunday afternoon.

Tai Chi Classes

CNHLC is currently running 2 Tai Chi classes on every Sunday at the Soho Centre for Health and Care (1 Frith Street, London W1D 3QS).
Our Tai Chi classes offer gentle physical exercise for improved posture and strength. Every Sunday.

Walking To Health

To promote sustainable health and well-being at all ages in the Chinese community in central London, CNHLC organises two walking to health activities per month.
Bimonthly walking to health activities are organised to promote sustainable health and well-being for elderly Chinese.

WORKING WITH US

Research and Consultancy
We undertake research and consultancy work for the statutory, voluntary and commercial sectors. What we can offer:
• Recruitment of Chinese participants in research
• Conducting focus groups and interviews in Chinese
• Transcription in Chinese
• Advice and consultancy

Healthier Chinese Cuisine Training
We provide training to chefs in Chinese restaurants and takeaways to help them produce healthier menu options, without compromising on flavour. Developed from a project funded by the British Heart Foundation, our training has helped dozens of Chinese restaurants across the UK to reduce the fat, salt and sugar in their food. NHS Health and Social Care Award 2010
Health and Social Care Awards 2010The CNHLC and Chelsea & Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust won an award for the success of their partnership in the NHS London Region Health and Social Care Awards 2010.
The award was made in recognition of our work in hepatitis B screening, carried out in partnership with the 56 Dean Street NHS sexual health service.
